On November 6, we hosted our #TeamPlanGroup’s grade 9 students for the annual Take Our Kids to Work Day!
Our exciting day started off with presentations from our leaders about apprenticeships, skilled trade career opportunities, estimation, project management, VDC (Virtual Design and Construction), and prefabrication.
Led by our Director of Mechanical Operations, Enrico Casciato, the grade 9’s participated in a fun, hands-on activity. They all had a turn measuring, cutting, and crimping materials to create a part of a plumbing system! It was an engaging way for the students to see firsthand the skills required in the trades and understand the work that goes into every project.
Next on the agenda was a tour of our prefabrication shop to see the prefab team in action. This gave them a great understanding of how we prepare and assemble components off-site and how it improves our efficiency.
Later, our students were joined by their parents/guardians to enjoy lunch after an eventful morning. For the rest of the afternoon, our students experienced a day in the office, which was a perfect chance to learn more about their parent's/guardian's roles.
Overall, Take Our Kids To Work Day was a success! The grade 9 students had the unique opportunity to explore potential career opportunities and understand their parents’/guardians’ jobs.
We hope this day sparked new interests and inspired the students as they think about their futures.
