We are thrilled to announce that the Bayers Lake QEII Community Outpatient Centre, Nova Scotia's newest comprehensive healthcare facility, has received a certificate of substantial completion.
Offering a 24-station advanced renal dialysis unit, Diagnostic imaging (X-ray, Ultrasound, Bone Density), Orthopedic Assessment Clinic, and multiple care clinics (Internal Medicine, ENT, Surgery, Blood and Specimen Collection). This 126,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art center is set to become a cornerstone of healthcare support for the local community. The comprehensive healthcare facility will help alleviate the pressure on the inpatient hospitals by providing a dedicated off-site location for outpatient services—Paving the way to a new era of community care in Nova Scotia!
In Joint-Venture with Atlantica, a subsidiary of the Cahill Group, our team was awarded the Electrical, Mechanical, and Technology scopes of work for this project. Operating within the P3 Design-Build-Finance-Maintain framework, Plan Group played a pivotal role throughout the project's lifecycle. Our responsibilities spanned from the initial system design phase to construction and, ultimately, the commissioning of the facility.
By collaborating with Atlantica, we were able to maximize our collective strengths and optimize the construction process. Atlantica locally manufactured and transported all ductwork, significantly reducing our carbon footprint. Additionally, their division, CTS, expertly installed the Building Automation System. Leveraging our expertise in low voltage systems, we seamlessly integrated the building's technology infrastructure.
Together, harnessing the collective expertise of all team members involved, we successfully managed all aspects of our cross-functional scope of work on this project.
OUR CONTRIBUTION
Our electrical scope of work for this project covered a wide range of critical components designed to enhance the patient experience and ensure seamless operations. This included implementing an advanced lighting control system, a fully integrated Security Management System, a robust emergency power generator, architectural lighting, and a synchronized clock system.
Simultaneously, our Mechanical team delivered critical installations to ensure a pristine and controlled environment throughout the facility. In demonstrating our commitment to mechanical excellence, we oversaw the delivery of all Plumbing, Heating, HVAC and Controls.
As the lead technology provider, we installed and integrated a cutting-edge Nurse Call System, a Distributed Antenna System, and nine distinct types of AV systems catering to a wide range of patient needs and facility functions and a Real-Time Locating System (RTLS) to monitor staff duress & asset tracking. To optimize communication and ensure reliability, we also employed a colour-coded communication cabling system tailored to the specific requirements of each system type.
As we wrap up this remarkable project, we thank and congratulate everyone who contributed to its success. Our entire team's commitment and dedicated efforts were instrumental in bringing this vital healthcare facility to life. Because of our hard work, this project will stand as a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation for years to come!
