12 Golden Rules for Health and Safety: Before we start, are we fit to start?

In honour of Health and Safety Month, we are thrilled to announce the launch of the 12 Golden Rules for Health and Safety. These rules have been carefully crafted to foster a culture of safety and well-being within our organization. Today, we would like to take a moment to reflect on the significance of the first three golden rules and how they contribute to our commitment to safety. BEFORE WE START, ARE WE FIT TO START? One fundamental question we should always ask ourselves before working is, "Before we start, are we fit to start?" The simple yet powerful question serves as a reminder to assess our physical and mental readiness before commencing any task for work. This quick self-assessment empowers us to address concerns or seek support when needed and enables us to perform our tasks safely and efficiently. That said, in going above and beyond to put safety first in all that we do, we're excited to introduce the first three golden rules, which will help to ensure we start every day with safety in mind. INTRODUCING THE FIRST THREE GOLDEN RULES: To reinforce our unwavering commitment to safety, we are excited to introduce the first three golden rules that will shape our daily practices and mindset. These rules are designed to ensure that safety is at the forefront of everything we do from the moment we step onto the job site. BEFORE WE START…

  • Before Starting

ALWAYS prepare the job site, conduct a risk assessment & PSI/FLHA. ARE WE FIT TO START?

  • Drugs & Alcohol

NEVER work or drive under the influence.

  • Protective Equipment and Tools

ALWAYS wear the appropriate PPE and use the proper tools. As we implement these 12 Golden Rules for Health and Safety, let's remember that safety is not just a priority—it is one of our core values that guides us daily.

PLEASE BE ADVISED The use of chin straps on hard hats is now mandated for employees on all sites and in any situation where a hard hat is required. The decision to enforce chin strap stems from our commitment to prioritizing the well-being and safety of our employees. Chin straps serve as an additional safeguard against potential hazards and enhance the overall effectiveness of our protective headgear. Properly securing hard hats with chin straps can significantly reduce the risk of head injuries caused by unexpected impacts, falls, or accidents. This measure is essential to maintaining a safe work environment and aligns with our efforts to mitigate potential risks. We understand that embracing new safety protocols may require effort, but your full cooperation and adherence to this requirement are essential. Our supervisors and safety officers will be available to provide any guidance or assistance you may need with the proper usage and fitting of chin straps. We appreciate your commitment to maintaining a safe and secure work environment for everyone.

Get ready for next week's PG Insider post! We're excited to reveal the "we work safety" section of the 12 Golden Rules, which will help establish a safety culture that is integrated into everything we do. Stay tuned!
